CHAPTER 2 "THERE WERE THREE BABIES..." THE HOSPITAL SECURITY FOOTAGE SHOWED SOMETHING IMPOSSIBLE

"What do you mean there were three?"

Damon's voice became dangerously calm.

Sylvie looked toward the closed door before answering.

"I delivered triplets."

His entire body froze.

"The doctors confirmed all three were healthy."

"So where is the third child?"

Tears finally appeared.

"I don't know."

The words barely escaped her lips.

Damon immediately stormed into the hallway.

"Get the head nurse."

Within minutes the maternity floor was filled with administrators, security officers, and frightened nurses.

Everyone insisted the same thing.

Only two babies had ever been admitted.

Impossible.

Sylvie still had medical records showing three heartbeats during pregnancy.

Three separate ultrasounds.

Three fetal monitors.

Three birth reports.

Yet somehow...

The hospital computer now displayed only two infants.

Someone had changed the records.

Damon's billionaire instincts immediately took over.

"This wasn't an accident."

Hospital administrators exchanged nervous looks.

One quietly admitted something disturbing.

"The surveillance system went offline for exactly twelve minutes."

"Twelve minutes?"

"Yes."

"Who had access?"

No answer.

Damon pulled out his phone.

Within ten minutes, six private investigators arrived.

By sunrise...

The entire hospital was under investigation.

Doctors whispered.

Lawyers arrived.

Even hospital executives looked terrified.

Then one investigator rushed into the room carrying a tablet.

"Mr. Vexley..."

"What?"

"You need to see this."

The surveillance footage appeared.

The hallway outside Room 203.

Time stamp: 2:13 A.M.

A nurse pushed three bassinets toward the recovery room.

Everything looked normal.

Then...

The screen flickered.

Static.

Nine seconds.

When the image returned...

Only two bassinets remained.

No one entered.

No one left.

The third bassinet had simply...

Disappeared.

Everyone stared in disbelief.

"That's impossible," someone whispered.

"No," Damon replied quietly.

"It's edited."

He zoomed into one corner of the footage.

A reflection inside a polished window.

Just for a fraction of a second...

Someone wearing expensive Italian leather shoes stood beside the camera.

Shoes Damon recognized instantly.

His face turned white.

He owned only one pair like them.

He had given them away...

To his younger brother.

Adrian.

The same brother who had vanished overseas after the divorce.

The same brother Damon hadn't spoken to in almost a year.

The same brother who always believed Damon should never have children.

Because children...

Inherited companies.

Inherited fortunes.

Inherited control.

Adrian stood to inherit everything if Damon died without an heir.

The room suddenly felt ice cold.

Damon whispered one sentence.

"My own brother..."

Then his phone vibrated.

Unknown number.

He answered.

A distorted voice laughed softly.

"If you want to meet your third child..."

Damon stopped breathing.

"...come alone."

The call disconnected.

No location.

No explanation.

Only silence.

Sylvie looked at him.

"What happened?"

For the first time in decades...

May you like

The billionaire who feared nothing...

Looked terrified.
