Chapter 14 - The Manhattan Penthouse InfiltrationMidnight in Manhattan was bathed in the harsh, sterile glow of neon signs and flashing police cruisers.

The luxury penthouse on the forty-fifth floor of a sleek glass tower overlooking Central Park was surrounded by yellow police tape. Two federal marshals stood guard by the elevator lobby, while inside, investigators cataloged art pieces and financial documents.

They didn't notice the maintenance panel in the service stairwell slide open silently.

Adrian slipped out of the shaft like a shadow, wearing a matte-black tactical turtleneck and dark trousers. He moved with absolute, terrifying efficiency. He didn't use weapons; he used speed and silence.

Two quick, precise strikes to the pressure points in the hallway, and the two patrolling marshals slumped unconscious into his arms before they could even draw their sidearms. Adrian eased them gently to the floor, stripped their access cards, and bypassed the biometric security lock on the master study door.

Inside the dark, ransacked office, the safe was hidden behind a massive oil painting of the Manhattan skyline.

Adrian punched in the override sequence he had extracted from Marcus Vance’s corporate logs months ago.

Click.

The heavy steel door swung open.

Sitting on the velvet-lined shelf inside was a small, titanium cryptographic flash drive pulsing with a steady amber light.

“Got it,” Adrian muttered into his lapel mic.

“Boss, move!” Dominic’s voice squawked urgently through the earpiece. “Federal reinforcement units just pulled up to the lobby! You’ve got less than two minutes before they sweep the upper floors!”

Adrian grabbed the drive, turned sharply toward the service exit—and froze.

Standing in the doorway of the study, blocking his only path out, was a tall, imposing figure with silver-streaked hair and cold, calculating eyes.

Director Vance—Marcus’s older brother and the high-ranking federal liaison who had quietly protected the syndicate’s rivals for years.

“End of the line, Adrian,” Director Vance sneered, leveling a Glock 19 directly at Adrian’s chest. “You thought you could clean house and leave us with nothing? Hand over the drive, and maybe I’ll let you die quickly.”
