Chapter 1 - THE AUDIO PROOFThe cold marble floor of the jewelry store still stung against Emma Sterling’s cheek, but her mind was razor-sharp.

Nathan was on his knees now, his manicured hands clutching the edge of the glass counter, his face drained of all color.
"Emma, please," Nathan stammered, his voice cracking as panic clawed at his throat. "We can talk about this. The shares... the company... it was a misunderstanding!"
Celeste’s smug expression had vanished completely. She stepped forward, her champagne silk dress rustling sharply. "Nathan, get up! Don't beg this pathetic—"
"Shut up, Celeste!" Nathan roared, glaring at his mistress with sudden, venomous hatred. He realized in a single terrifying flash that by hitting Emma on camera, in public, he had just handed his wife a silver bullet that could annihilate every asset he owned.
Emma didn't yell. She didn't spit venom. She simply reached into her coat pocket, pulled out her phone, and tapped the screen.
A crystal-clear audio recording began playing through the quiet store:
"Once she signs the transfer document on her twenty-ninth birthday, the trust fund reverts entirely to us, Julian," Nathan’s recorded voice echoed clearly through the shop.
And then Celeste’s voice replied: "Just make sure she doesn't read the fine print about her father's estate. If the old man’s offshore accounts are ever audited, we’re both finished anyway."
Nathan froze. His eyes bulged out of his head. "How... how did you get that?"

"You left your tablet open on the kitchen counter last Tuesday, Nathan," Emma said softly, her voice ice-cold. "You always were arrogant enough to think nobody else knew how to use admin privileges."
She turned on her heel, leaving Nathan kneeling on the floor like a broken man, and walked out of the store into the cool night air.
