Chapter 6 - THE CONFESSION IN THE RAINEmma walked slowly to the steel door, unlocking the deadbolts with a sharp clack. She pulled the heavy door open.

Nathan fell forward onto his knees on the concrete floor, clutching the hem of her coat, sobbing openly.

"Emma... I'm sorry. God help me, I'm so sorry," Nathan wept, his usual arrogant veneer completely shattered. "Julian threatened to kill my mother if I didn't help them forge those transfer papers! They manipulated me!"

Emma looked down at the man who, less than twenty-four hours earlier, had struck her across the face in front of his mistress. There was no pity in her eyes—only a cold, terrifying clarity.

"You raised your hand against me, Nathan," Emma said softly, her voice devoid of emotion. "You thought I was weak. You thought you could trade me away like an old piece of furniture."

"I'll testify against Julian!" Nathan cried out, looking up with desperate, pleading eyes. "I have the physical ledger of every bribe he paid the city judges! I can put him away for life!"

Emma crouched down until she was eye-level with her weeping husband.

"You will," Emma whispered, her voice like steel. "You’re going to hand over every single share of Sterling Enterprises to my father’s legitimate estate by tomorrow morning. And then, Nathan... you are going to walk into FBI headquarters and confess to every crime you committed."

Nathan swallowed hard, trembling violently. He knew he had no choice. "I'll do it. I'll do anything."
