Chapter 13 - The Media StormThe public spectacle at the corporate gala did not stay contained within the estate walls. By Friday morning, digital gossip blogs and local financial tabloids had picked up the scent. Drone footage of Julian being physically dragged away by security guards was splashed across social media feeds, accompanied by juicy headlines detailing the dramatic downfall of a former corporate climber.

I sat in my corner office, scrolling through a particularly sensationalized article titled “From Boardroom to Boulevard: The Epic Downfall of Julian Vance.” The comments section was a relentless slaughterhouse of public opinion, with hundreds of netizens mocking his arrogance and praising my ruthless, calculated survival instinct.
My phone chimed, breaking my concentration. It was an email notification from my chief legal counsel, Arthur Pendelton.
“Clara, you need to see this. Selina has filed a formal petition for divorce and civil fraud against Julian in family court. She’s claiming he misrepresented his net worth and corporate standing under false pretenses when they married. She’s suing him for every penny of the debt he dragged into their brief union.”
I let out a low, amused breath. Selina had learned the hard way that chasing a lifestyle built on another woman’s sweat always ends in a financial trainwreck. They deserved each other, trapped in a mutual cycle of greed and deception.
My intercom buzzed softly.
"Mrs. Vance?" my executive assistant's voice came through. "There’s a reporter from the Global Financial Herald on line one. They’re requesting an exclusive interview regarding your corporate restructuring and personal branding renaissance."

I looked at the sleek glass plaque on my desk bearing my name—sole founder, majority shareholder, and CEO.
"Connect them," I said, a confident smile spreading across my face. "Let's tell them how a real empire is built."
