Chapter 5 - The Corporate ExecutionBy Monday morning, the shockwaves of Saturday night's spectacular social collapse had completely devoured the corporate office. Word travels fast when executive assistants witness a public meltdown at a luxury party.

When I stepped out of the private elevator onto the executive floor of Vance & Sterling Marketing, the atmosphere was thick with tension. Employees whispered behind glass partitions, their eyes darting nervously toward me as I walked past with my posture straight, head held high, and wearing a sharp, tailored crimson pantsuit that screamed absolute authority.

My hair was professionally blown out, my makeup was flawless, and a pair of designer stilettos clicked sharply against the marble floor. The "pathetic mess" of the past two years was officially extinct.

As I approached the corner office, the door swung open, and Richard Vance stepped out, looking deeply uncomfortable.

"Clara," he said cautiously, clearing his throat. "I... heard about the weekend. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you."

"Thank you, Richard, but I assure you, my burden has been considerably lightened," I replied with a cool, professional smile.

"About Julian..." Richard hesitated, shifting his weight. "He showed up at the corporate headquarters this morning demanding an advance on his quarterly performance bonus. As you know, he’s been functioning as a senior liaison here, but given everything... well, the board has some serious concerns regarding company liability."

I stopped and turned to face him fully. "Let me save you the trouble of an awkward HR meeting, Richard. Julian hasn't brought in a single profitable client in eighteen months. He has been coasting entirely on the coattails of my personal networking accounts, which I have officially revoked as of nine this morning. Furthermore, my legal team is currently auditing the departmental expense reports. I suspect you'll find a mountain of personal entertainment costs billed directly to client dinners."

Richard’s eyes widened slightly. As a seasoned executive, he hated financial liability more than anything else in the world.

"Consider him terminated with immediate cause," Richard said firmly, his hesitation instantly evaporating. "Effective immediately."
