Chapter 4 - The Collapse of an EmpireNathan lunged forward, his hands flat on the table, desperation finally breaking through his shock. "You can't do that! You'll ruin me! You'll destroy everything I've spent seven years building!"

"You didn't build it, Nathan," Clara replied, standing up with a quiet, terrifying grace. She buttoned her emerald silk blazer, picking up her leather portfolio. "My inheritance bought the servers. My father’s patents wrote the core algorithms. You were just the handsome face who managed to lose money while wearing an expensive suit."
She turned her gaze to Sabrina, who was shaking with humiliation near the exit.
"And as for you, Ms. Vale," Clara added softly. "HR at your previous firm was contacted this afternoon regarding the corporate credit card misuse you tried to bury in Nexora’s Q2 software licensing fees. Your background check for your next job is going to be... fascinating."
Without waiting for a reply, Clara walked past them toward the heavy private door.
As she reached the threshold, she paused, looking back over her shoulder one last time.

The door clicked shut behind her, leaving the two of them standing in the dim, amber-lit room with nothing left to burn.
