Two years after the historic Nasdaq IPO, the Sloan Foundation had expanded its reach across all fifty states, establishing safe havens, legal defense funds, and financial literacy incubators for survivors of domestic exploitation.

I sat in my corner office on the seventy-second floor, reviewing quarterly growth reports when my private secretary buzzed through.

“Ms. Vance, you have a visitor downstairs in the main lobby,” she said, her voice carrying a hint of hesitation. “A woman refusing to leave. She claims she has vital information regarding your former husband’s hidden offshore assets.”
