Chapter 9 - Midnight at the MarinaThe clock on the dashboard of my car ticked silently as I watched the security monitors from my phone.

It was 11:45 PM.
On the screen, live security feeds from the Sterling Maternity Center showed Julian creeping down the darkened hallway of the executive floor like a common burglar. He wore a dark hoodie, his face shadowed, his movements frantic as he forced open the door to my former office.
He sat down at the desk, frantically typing the master override code Sienna had given him—a code that didn't unlock an offshore account, but instead triggered an automatic, silent alarm directly linked to the financial crimes division of the local police department.
"He's taking the bait," Marcus whispered from the driver's seat, watching the screens alongside me.
"Let him take it," I replied coldly, adjusting my coat. "Drive to the private airfield. It's time for the grand finale."
When we arrived at the deserted airstrip thirty minutes later, the cold night wind whipped across the tarmac. A sleek private jet sat idling on the runway, its turbine engines humming a low, steady roar.
A figure was pacing nervously near the boarding stairs—Julian.
He had rushed straight from the hospital, expecting Sienna to be waiting for him with open arms and millions of dollars in offshore funds. Instead, as my car pulled up directly across from the jet's landing lights, blinding him, he stopped dead in his tracks.
The car doors opened. Marcus stepped out first, followed closely by two armed police officers in uniform, and finally, myself.
Julian stared at us in absolute shock, his eyes darting from the police officers to me, and then to the shadow stepping out from behind my car.
Sienna.
She walked into the harsh glare of the headlights, her expression an impassive mask of pure contempt. She didn't look at Julian with love, or even anger—she looked at him like he was a piece of trash stuck to the bottom of her shoe.
"Sienna... what is this?" Julian stammered, backing up against the metal steps of the jet as the police officers advanced on him, their handcuffs gleaming in the night. "You... you said we were running away together!"
Sienna stopped a few feet away, a cold, humorless smile touching her lips. "I lied, Julian. Just like you lied to everyone else."
Julian turned frantically toward me, his face twisted in a mask of pure terror. "Clara! Please! Don't do this! We were married! We have a history!"

I stopped just inches from him, looking down into the eyes of the man who had tried to destroy my life and left my newborn daughter to die.
"You had a history, Julian," I said, my voice cutting through the roar of the jet engines with absolute, chilling finality. "Now, you only have a sentence."
