Chapter 5 - THE TABLES TURN"A notice to... what?" Derek choked out, snatching the paper from my hand. His eyes scanned the legal jargon, his pupils dilating in sheer terror.

"A 24-hour eviction notice," I said clearly, ensuring every neighbor on the quiet suburban street could hear me. "You and your family are trespassing on an active, court-supervised asset liquidation zone. If you are not off this property by tomorrow morning at nine o'clock, the county sheriff will come out here and physically remove you—along with all your cheap luggage."
Helen let out a sharp gasp and stumbled forward, grabbing my wrists. Her hands were shaking violently. "Naomi... please. You can't do this to your own family. We raised you! We fed you! We gave you a roof over your head!"

And the moment Derek crooked his finger, you called me a parasite and threw me into the street. Well, congratulations. The parasite is gone. Now you get to see what happens when the host dies."

I turned around, walked down the driveway toward my car, and opened the door.
"Enjoy the rest of your morning," I called out over my shoulder. "I'll see you in court on Monday."
