Chapter 9 - THE FINAL JUDGMENT"Judgment for the plaintiff," Judge Thomas announced, his voice ringing clearly through the silent courtroom.

"The Oak Ridge property is hereby placed into a court-supervised receivership trust, with Naomi Lancaster designated as primary administrator and majority equity holder. All eviction orders against the plaintiff are permanently vacated. Furthermore, the defendants, Helen and Robert Lancaster, are ordered to vacate the premises within seventy-two hours, or face immediate removal by the sheriff."

"Naomi..." she whispered, her voice cracking into a pathetic plea. "Please... where are we going to go? We're your parents..."
I stopped, turning my head slightly to look down at her. My expression was completely serene.

"You called me a parasite, Mom," I said softly, my voice carrying clearly across the emptying courtroom. "And parasites survive by feeding off the host until there's nothing left. But you? You picked the wrong host to bleed dry."
I pulled my jacket free from her frail grip, pushed open the heavy double doors, and walked out into the brilliant, sunlit afternoon.
