Chapter 3 - The Dynasty CrumblesBrandon Hale was born to rule. His father, Senator Thomas Hale, was a master puppeteer in Washington, positioning Brandon for a gubernatorial run before he even turned thirty. To the Hale family, the law was merely a suggestion, and lesser mortals were pawns to be sacrificed on the altar of ambition.

Brandon sat in his private study at the family estate, nursing a scotch, trying to calm his nerves after hearing about the catastrophic collapse of Cole Global Logistics. Just a coincidence, he told himself. Just a glitch.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany doors of his study swung open. Senator Thomas Hale strode inside, his face pale, his eyes wide with a manic fury Brandon had never seen before.

"You stupid, arrogant fool," Thomas hissed, slamming a thick manila folder onto the mahogany desk.

Brandon flinched, straightening his tie. "Dad? What are you talking about? What's going on?"

"Look at it!" Thomas roared.

Brandon opened the folder. Inside were photographs, bank statements, and sworn affidavits detailing every single corrupt transaction, political bribe, and electoral fraud the Hale family had committed over the past two decades. But that wasn't the worst part. On top of the stack was a printed transcript of a phone call recorded just hours earlier—a call between Senator Hale and Chief Miller, discussing the exact price to bury the investigation into Lily Walker’s assault.

"Where... where did you get this?" Brandon stammered, the color draining entirely from his face. "This is classified federal material! This could destroy us!"

"It has destroyed us!" Thomas shouted, his voice breaking. "An anonymous drop was delivered to the Department of Justice, the FBI anti-corruption division, and every major news outlet in the country ten minutes ago. Federal agents are already on their way with a warrant to search this estate. My career, your future, everything we built—gone because you couldn't keep your hands off a penniless college girl!"

Before Brandon could process the magnitude of his ruin, the sound of blaring sirens echoed up the private driveway. Flashing red and blue lights painted the walls of the study. The Hales' untouchable dynasty was collapsing in a matter of seconds, crushed under the sheer weight of its own corruption.

And across the city, sitting in a rented sedan parked in the shadows, I watched the federal cruisers swarm the gates.

Two down. One to go.
