Chapter 6 - Shadows from the PastThe doors of the boardroom slammed open once more, but this time, it wasn't security or police. Four men entered, dressed in unmarked tactical gear, their faces concealed by matte-black balaclavas. They moved with the terrifying, synchronized precision of active-duty special forces operatives.

The board members screamed, diving under tables.

"Commander," the lead tactical operator reported, snapping a crisp salute. "Perimeter is secure. The digital assets have been fully scrubbed from their private network backups. The federal agencies have taken custody of the Hales and the Coles. They won't be posting bail anytime soon."

Arthur and Tyler stared at the tactical team in utter disbelief. They had thought they were dealing with a grieving, desperate father. They didn't realize they had kicked a sleeping dragon guarding the gates of hell.

"Good work, Ghost actual," I replied, turning back to the trembling father and son. "Bring out the transport. We're taking a little field trip."

"Where... where are you taking us?!" Arthur shouted, panic finally piercing his arrogant armor. "You can't just kidnap us! This is abduction!"

"It's not abduction, Arthur," I said smoothly, walking past him toward the exit. "It's an extradition to justice of a very different kind. You wanted a world where power rules supreme, where money buys immunity, and where the strong crush the weak without consequence."

I stopped at the doorway and looked back over my shoulder.

"Welcome to your own world. Let's see how you survive at the bottom of the food chain."

As the tactical operatives subdued Arthur and Tyler, bundling them into unmarked vans waiting in the underground loading dock, my phone vibrated. It was Vega calling from the hospital.

"Commander, you need to get back here. Now."

My heart skipped a beat. "Is Lily alright?"

"Her vitals are stable, but she just woke up, Ghost. And she's asking for her dad."
