Chapter 4 - The Trap ClosesTotal chaos erupted in the conference room.

Security guards, summoned by the automated silent alarm Richard had desperately tried to trigger under the table, burst through the double doors.

"Seize her!" Richard screamed, pointing a shaking finger at Maya, sweat pouring down his face. "Get her out of here! Smash that drive! Arrest her for corporate hacking and extortion!"

Three massive security guards lunged forward, their heavy hands reaching for the twelve-year-old girl.

Maya didn't move an inch. She simply raised her left hand and pressed a single button on a remote hidden in her sleeve.

CLCK-WHIRR.

The heavy steel security shutters slammed down over the glass doors and windows of the conference room, plunging the room into an eerie, cold blue light emitted by the smart screen. At the same time, the security guards froze mid-stride, their radios emitting a high-pitched screech before shutting down completely.

"You're too late, Mr. Hoffman," Maya said calmly, walking back to her seat and crossing her legs. "The moment I plugged my drive into your local network, my automated protocol initiated. Within thirty seconds, copies of every single incriminating file, offshore bank transfer, and illicit contract in this building were automatically dispatched to Interpol, the global financial press, and the board of your primary international investors."

Director Weber lunged toward his phone, but the screen flashed a bright red banner: SIGNAL BLOCKED. FIREWALL OVERRIDDEN.

Furthermore, I didn't hack your system. Your own lax cybersecurity allowed a standard diagnostic tool to enter. I simply asked your system for public transparency, and it obliged."
