Chapter 10 - A New DawnThree weeks later, the media storm had settled into a quiet, permanent transformation.

The penthouse suite no longer felt like a cold, echoing mausoleum. Sunlight poured through the massive bay windows, warming the Persian rugs where colorful building blocks and sketchpads were scattered across the floor.

Anna sat at the mahogany desk, reviewing the final restructuring papers of the Vance-West Foundation, when tiny arms wrapped around her waist from behind.

"Anna! Look what I drew!" Sophie beamed, holding up a crayon drawing of two stick figures standing hand-in-hand in front of a shining glass tower, both wearing bright smiles.

Anna smiled, lifting the little girl onto her lap and kissing her cheek. "It’s beautiful, sweetheart. Where are we going to hang it?"

"Right in the middle of your big office," Sophie declared proudly. "So everyone knows you're my mommy now."

Anna’s breath hitched slightly, tears of pure joy pricking her eyes. She didn't correct her. She didn't need to.

From the doorway, Marcus leaned against the frame, holding a fresh cup of coffee and watching them with a warm, approving smile. "The board meeting is in ten minutes, Chief. Ready to run an empire?"

Anna looked down at Sophie, who was giggling happily as she pointed at a drawing of a puppy. Then she looked out the window at the magnificent skyline of the city, no longer shadowed by secrets, but shining brightly in the morning sun.

"Ready," Anna said, and for the first time in her life, the future felt entirely like her own.
