The emergency board meeting of Bennett Innovations was called at 8:00 AM sharp. Dominic arrived sweating, his hair unkempt, wearing the same suit from the day before. He had spent the night sleeping in his car after every credit card, bank account, and luxury hotel reservation was shut down.
He burst into the top-floor conference room, ready to plead his case to his board of directors and demand they remove the financial freeze.
"Listen to me, everyone!" Dominic shouted, slamming his hands on the glass table. "This is a temporary personal dispute between me and my estranged wife! Vance Capital has no legal right to freeze our operating accounts! We are hours away from launching our flagship software!"
"Actually, Dominic, Vance Capital has every right," a calm, velvet voice announced from the end of the table.
The leather high-back executive chair slowly rotated around.
Dominic froze. His jaw dropped.
Sitting at the head of the boardroom table, clad in a razor-sharp cream power suit with her hair pulled back into an elegant knot, was me. Beside me sat six senior partners from the largest law firm in the country.
"A-Audrey?" Dominic stammered, stumbling backward. "What... what are you doing in my boardroom?!"
"Correction, Dominic," I said, standing up and leaning over the table with absolute authority. "This isn't your boardroom. Vance Capital owns 85% of Bennett Innovations through preferred non-voting stock—stock that automatically converts to 100% voting control in the event of moral turpitude, corporate fraud, or felony indictment of the CEO."

I tossed a thick document across the table. It slid right up to his chest.
"You drained $2.4 million from our joint account two days ago," I continued, my voice echoing through the silent room. "What you didn't know is that the joint account was funded entirely by a Vance subsidiary. You just committed federal wire fraud. By unanimous vote of the board, you are hereby terminated as CEO of Bennett Innovations, effective immediately. Security will escort you to the street."
