I sat in my grandfather's study at the Vance Estate, reviewing encrypted email logs recovered from Dominic’s personal laptop.
"He was talking to Richard," I said, my blood running cold as I read the messages.
Arthur’s hand tightened around his glass of scotch. "My brother Richard?"
"Yes," I said, turning the laptop toward him. "Uncle Richard has been secretly funding Dominic’s startup through offshore shell companies in the Cayman Islands for two years. Richard knew that if I died during my high-risk pregnancy, or if I was declared mentally incapacitated, my share of the Vance Family Trust would default to my spouse. Dominic was promised a 20% cut if he pushed me into an emotional breakdown during labor."
Arthur’s eyes turned to cold steel. Richard Vance was his exiled younger brother—a man banished from the family business ten years ago for insider trading and extortion.

"So Dominic didn't just want a divorce," Arthur whispered, a deadly edge in his voice. "He was trying to drive you to suicide or physical collapse while you were in critical care."
"He thought my premature delivery was his golden opportunity," I said softly, looking at the sleeping photos of Liam and Chloe sent from the NICU nurses. "They underestimated how far a mother will go to survive for her children. Now, it’s time to take down Richard."
