Chapter 10 - The Final Verdict

Two years later.

The annual Hale Holdings charity gala was held at the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel. Flashbulbs popped blindingly as the city’s elite gathered to celebrate the company’s record-breaking fiscal year and its new philanthropic initiative supporting single mothers and maternal healthcare.

At the center of the ballroom stood Vincent Hale, wearing his classic bespoke tuxedo, holding a laughing, dark-haired toddler with bright, nearly black eyes who was currently attempting to steal the gold-plated pen from his breast pocket.

Sloan walked up beside him, stunning in a custom midnight-blue silk gown, slipping her hand smoothly through his arm.

A reporter from the Financial Times stepped forward, microphone extended. “Mr. Hale! Rumors circulated two years ago that your empire was facing a hostile takeover and personal upheaval. How did you manage to turn Hale Holdings around and completely restructure your personal life?”

Vincent looked down at Willa, who giggled and grabbed his tie, then looked over at Sloan, whose eyes were shining with quiet, unshakeable pride.

Vincent smiled—a real, unreserved smile that made the flashbulbs pop even faster.
