Chapter 20 - The Final Verdict

Five years later.

The annual Hale Holdings philanthropic gala was once again underway in the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel. But this year, there were no media scandals, no federal agents, and no hostile board members lurking in the shadows.

At the center of the ballroom stood Vincent and Sloan, surrounded by laughter, music, and light.

Running around their legs was a seven-year-old girl with dark, nearly black eyes who was currently showing off her new ballet shoes to her grandmother—Eleanor, who had long since retired to a quiet life in Florida, having finally traded control for a relationship with her granddaughter.

And tucked safely in a custom white bassinet near the VIP table rested their newest addition—a six-month-old baby boy with the exact same Hale eyes, sleeping peacefully through the roar of the celebration.

A financial journalist approached Vincent, microphone extended with polite hesitation. “Mr. Hale, looking back at the transformation of Hale Holdings and your personal life over the past decade, what would you say is the secret to your unshakeable success?”

Vincent looked over at Sloan, who was laughing as she caught their daughter mid-spin, before looking back down at his sleeping infant son.

He smiled—a real, unreserved, completely liberated smile.
