Chapter 26 - The New Foundation

Autumn arrived early in New York that year, painting Central Park in vibrant shades of amber and gold.

With the corporate battles settled and Eleanor’s legal legacy permanently dismantled, Vincent began the process of restructuring Hale Holdings from the ground up. He instituted mandatory parental leave policies, established corporate childcare centers across all regional headquarters, and stepped down as sole CEO to become executive chairman, trading eighty-hour workweeks for evenings spent reading bedtime stories to Willa.

One crisp October afternoon, Vincent walked into the grand kitchen of the penthouse carrying a large, heavy blueprint roll.

Sloan was at the counter, sorting through mail while sipping her tea. She looked up as he unrolled the paper across the marble island, weighing down the corners with two ceramic mugs.

“What’s this?” Sloan asked, stepping closer.

“Cedar Hollow,” Vincent said simply.

Sloan frowned, studying the architectural schematics. “The horse farm in Georgia? The one you inherited from your father?”

“The one I ignored for four years,” Vincent corrected gently. “I had the local contractors inspect the main house last week. The nursery we built in our memories... I want to rebuild it there. Real horses, open pastures, fresh air, and a house that has room for more than just ghosts.”

Sloan traced her finger along the blueprint lines, her dark eyes shining with sudden, overwhelming emotion. “You want to move to Georgia?”

“Not permanently,” Vincent smiled. “We keep the penthouse in Manhattan for the board meetings and the city life. But we spend our summers, our autumns, and every weekend down at Cedar Hollow. Where a child can grow up running through grass instead of concrete canyons.”

Sloan looked up from the blueprints, her heart full to bursting. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down into a deep, passionate kiss.

“Let’s build it,” she whispered against his lips.
