Chapter 20 - The Forever Empire

The final chapter of their story was not written in blood, or debt, or corporate ledgers. It was written in quiet mornings, shared coffee on the veranda, and the unyielding strength of a partnership forged in the darkest fires of the underworld.

Ten years after the night Dominic had told her he never wanted her as his wife, the Lake Forest mansion echoed with a new kind of life. The sound of running footsteps and childish laughter filled the grand halls—laughter belonging to a pair of bright-eyed twins who had inherited their mother’s sharp intellect and their father’s fearless spirit.

On a warm summer afternoon, Dominic and Claire stood on the back lawn watching their children chase each other through the manicured gardens, while Noah looked on with a proud uncle’s grin, holding a glass of iced tea.

Dominic slipped his arm around Claire’s waist, pulling her close against his side. The silver wedding ring on his finger caught the golden afternoon sunlight, gleaming brightly against his skin.

“Ten years,” Dominic murmured, looking down at her with eyes that still held the same fierce, unending devotion from the day they broke the mold of their arranged marriage. “If someone had told me in that cold study on our anniversary that you would completely upend my world, take over my empire, and make me the happiest man alive... I would have called them insane.”

Claire smiled, resting her head against his shoulder, her fingers interlacing with his.

“You did call me insane, Dominic,” she reminded him playfully. “Several times, actually.”

“And I was a fool every single time,” he admitted softly, pressing a kiss to her temple.

Claire looked out across the sprawling gardens, watching the sunlight dance across the emerald lawn and reflecting on the quiet, secure life they had carved out of the shadows. The mafia boss and the debt-settlement bride had become the undisputed rulers of an empire—not of fear, but of absolute, unbreakable devotion.

She turned in his arms, wrapping her arms securely around his neck, looking straight into his eyes with a smile that held all the promises of forever.

“You’re stuck with me now, Dominic Russo,” Claire whispered. “No red dresses required.”

Dominic pulled her flush against him, his lips meeting hers in a deep, lingering kiss that tasted of home, victory, and an unwritten future stretching out endlessly before them.

“Wouldn't have it any other way,” he murmured against her lips.
