CHAPTER 2 — "The Billionaire Who Disappeared Twenty Years Ago"

On the top floor...

Forty-eight stories above the street...

The board of directors sat frozen around a polished walnut table.

No one spoke.

On the eighty-inch security monitor...

The footage replayed again.

And again.

And again.

The chairman, Richard Bennett, stared at the screen with trembling hands.

Finally...

He whispered five words that turned every face pale.

"It... can't be him."

Silence.

The company's oldest board member leaned closer to the screen.

His breathing became uneven.

"I would recognize those eyes anywhere."

Another director swallowed hard.

"Call Security."

"No."

Richard immediately stood.

"Don't touch him."

"If that's really who I think it is..."

"We're the ones in danger."

Across the table...

Melissa walked in confidently.

"I'm sorry I'm late."

Nobody answered.

Instead...

Richard pointed silently at the frozen image on the television.

Melissa frowned.

"What?"

"The homeless man."

"So?"

Richard slowly turned toward her.

"Do you know who you just humiliated?"

She laughed.

"A beggar."

"No."

"He is the man who built this company."

Melissa's smile vanished.

"What?"

Richard opened an old leather folder that had remained locked inside the boardroom safe for almost two decades.

Inside...

Was the exact same family photograph.

The same building.

The same smiling man.

Only younger.

Clean-shaven.

Wearing an expensive navy suit.

Standing beside his wife and little daughter.

At the bottom of the picture...

One handwritten sentence.

Founder — Jonathan Harrington.

Melissa's blood ran cold.

"That's impossible."

"He died."

Richard slowly shook his head.

"No."

"He disappeared."

"Twenty years ago."

"No body."

"No funeral."

"No inheritance."

"Nothing."

The directors exchanged nervous glances.

For two decades...

Rumors had spread that Jonathan Harrington had secretly transferred ownership of billions of dollars into an anonymous trust before vanishing.

No one had ever found him.

Until today.

Melissa stared at the screen.

Then laughed nervously.

"That can't be the same man."

"He was a billionaire."

Richard nodded.

"And now..."

"He chooses to live as a homeless man."

"Why?"

No one knew.

Suddenly...

Richard's phone rang.

His face changed after hearing only three words.

"What?"

"Right now?"

He stood so abruptly that his chair crashed backward.

"Prepare every executive."

"We're going downstairs."

Melissa blinked.

"To do what?"

Richard looked directly into her terrified eyes.

"To apologize."

Before anyone could move...

Every computer inside the building suddenly shut off.

The lights flickered.

Then every monitor displayed the same message in bold black letters:

May you like

WELCOME HOME, MR. HARRINGTON.

The entire skyscraper fell into absolute silence...
