CHAPTER 6 — “The Billionaire's Final Test”

Screams echoed through the lobby.

Employees dropped to the floor.

Security reached for their weapons.

Richard's finger tightened on the trigger.

Jonathan, however...

Didn't move.

He simply looked into Richard's eyes.

"I trusted you like a brother."

Richard laughed bitterly.

"And that's exactly why you were easy to betray."

Twenty years of guilt poured from his voice.

"When you disappeared..."

"The company became mine."

"I wasn't about to give back an empire."

Melissa stood frozen.

Everything she believed about Harrington Global was collapsing.

Richard took another step forward.

"You built the company."

"I built the fortune."

Jonathan shook his head.

"No."

"You built your greed."

Just then...

A loud metallic click echoed through the lobby.

Richard frowned.

His gun wouldn't fire.

He pulled the trigger again.

Click.

Again.

Click.

Nothing.

Behind him came a familiar voice.

"Looking for these?"

Everyone turned.

Grace.

The quiet janitor.

She stood calmly beside a security officer, holding the magazine she had discreetly removed from Richard's pistol while everyone had been distracted moments earlier.

Richard stared in horror.

"Impossible..."

Grace smiled nervously.

"My father trained me before he passed away."

"He always said..."

"If someone looks desperate enough to use a gun..."

"Watch their hands."

Security rushed forward.

Within seconds Richard was pinned to the marble floor in handcuffs.

As federal agents entered the building, Evelyn handed the flash drive to the lead investigator.

"The evidence is complete."

"Every fake account."

"Every shell company."

"Every illegal transfer."

Jonathan watched Richard being led away.

He expected satisfaction.

Instead...

He only felt sadness.

Then Evelyn quietly slipped something into Jonathan's hand.

A small brass key.

He recognized it instantly.

"The safety deposit box..."

She nodded.

"I protected one thing all these years."

Jonathan opened the folded note attached to the key.

Only six handwritten words appeared:

"Your daughter is still alive, Jonathan."

The color drained from his face.

"Our... daughter?"

Evelyn's eyes filled with tears.

"They lied about her too."

Jonathan staggered backward.

Everything he thought he had lost...

His wife.

His company.

His fortune.

Had only been the beginning.

Because somewhere...

May you like

His child was still out there.

And someone had spent twenty years making sure they never found each other.
