Chapter 8 - The Final ReckoningViktor Vance fell backward against a stack of cash crates, clutching his bleeding hand, his face slick with cold sweat.

Sirens wailed in the distance—the federal task force, right on schedule, storming Vance’s secondary warehouses across town, completely drawing away his reinforcements. He was trapped, surrounded, and utterly ruined.
"You think this is over?" Vance spat blood onto the concrete, his eyes wild with desperation. "You think the syndicate will let you walk away with my territory? They’ll hunt you down, Moretti. They’ll carve her up into pieces while you watch!"
Luca didn't flinch. He didn't raise his voice. He walked forward with the slow, terrifying grace of an apex predator closing in on wounded prey.
"Let them try," Luca murmured, grabbing Vance by the collar and hauling him to his feet with one hand. "Because unlike you, I don't build my empire on fear and chains. I built mine on loyalty. And you just threatened the only person in this world I care about."
Vance choked out a ragged breath as Luca’s grip tightened on his throat. "Please... Moretti... name your price. Money? Property? The whole eastern seaboard?"
"Your life," Luca whispered. "And you can't afford it."
With a brutal, decisive motion, Luca threw Vance violently to the floor, knocking him completely unconscious. He turned around to face Elena, his cold exterior melting away the second his eyes met hers.
Elena stood frozen, watching the man who had tormented her for years lying broken at her feet. The phantom weight of his abuse, the suffocating terror of her past—it all seemed to evaporate into the cold ocean air.
Luca walked over to her, his large hands gently cupping her face.
"It’s over," he whispered, his thumb brushing her cheek. "He can never hurt you again."
A single tear slipped down Elena’s cheek, but this time, it wasn't a tear of fear. It was the release of a soul finally set free.

"Thank you, Luca," she whispered, her voice trembling.
"Don't thank me," he replied, leaning his forehead gently against hers. "Just stay."
