Chapter 15 - The Father’s GambitThe crowd parted automatically for the older man as he strode toward the center of the room, his eyes locked onto Julian Vance with a cold, terrifying intensity.

"Dad?" Noah breathed out, looking like he was seeing a ghost. "What are you doing here?"

Mr. Vance didn't look at Noah. He stopped right in front of Julian Vance, pulling a set of legal documents from the manila folder and slapping them against Julian’s chest.

"I spent the last three months digging into your little boutique investment firm, Julian," Mr. Vance said, his voice carrying clearly across the entire room. "You’ve been preying on young, independent artists in Portland for years, trapping them with predatory clauses, and using forged bank documents to blackmail them when they try to walk away."

Julian’s face drained completely of color. He grabbed the papers off his chest, stammering incoherently. "This... this is defamation! I’ll sue you for everything you've—"

"Sue me for what?" Mr. Vance interrupted coldly, pulling out his phone and tapping the screen. "I just forwarded all of these financial records and audio recordings of your threats to the Portland District Attorney and the state art commission. Federal investigators are already reviewing your portfolio."

Julian didn't wait to hear another word. He turned on his heel, shoving past two reporters, and bolted out the gallery doors into the pouring rain, his career disintegrating in real-time.

For a long moment, the gallery was dead silent. Then, a slow, tentative round of applause started near the back, quickly building into a roaring ovation from the critics and attendees who had just witnessed the ultimate corporate takedown.

Mr. Vance finally turned around, looking at his daughter. The stern, imposing expression on his face softened, replaced by a look of profound paternal pride.

"You're a brilliant artist, Lily," her father said softly, stepping forward and opening his arms. "And you're tougher than I ever gave you credit for. I'm sorry I didn't see what he was doing sooner."

Lily stared at her father for a second, tears finally spilling over her lashes, before stepping forward and burying her face in his shoulder.
