CHAPTER 8 – The Final Betrayal

The FBI immediately reopened Michael Grant's case.
Every record.
Every fingerprint.
Every financial transaction.
Then forensic analysts made an impossible discovery.
The body buried under Michael Grant's name...
Belonged to someone else.
For fifteen years, the entire country had been mourning the wrong man.
Michael Grant had erased himself from history.
And now...
He was back.
Hours later, Daniel received a mysterious phone call.
No caller ID.
He answered without speaking.
A calm, familiar voice whispered,
"I'm proud of you, son."
Daniel nearly dropped the phone.
He hadn't heard that voice since he was twenty-three.
"Michael..."
A quiet laugh came through the receiver.
"You still remember."
Daniel's face turned pale.
"You betrayed everyone."
"No," Michael replied.
"I built something bigger than the law."
"You'll never stop me."
Michael chuckled.
"I already have."
Daniel turned around.
Sarah was gone.
Only her FBI badge lay on the floor.
Beside it...
A fresh pool of blood.
Rex began barking wildly toward the road.
A black SUV disappeared into the darkness.
Daniel jumped into his truck without hesitation.
This was no longer about exposing corruption.
It was about saving the only person who had believed him when the entire world called him a liar.
As the SUV vanished over the bridge, Daniel noticed one chilling detail.
The license plate wasn't real.
It read only three words:
May you like
