Chapter 18 - The London Expansion

The transatlantic flight touched down at Heathrow under a moody, slate-gray London sky that felt fitting for our next major milestone. Exactly eighteen months after dismantling David’s corporate web, Hayes Global Ventures was officially planting its flag on Threadneedle Street.
My chief of operations, Maya, unclipped her seatbelt as the aircraft taxied toward the private hangar. “Eleanor, the British tech syndicate is waiting for us at the boardroom. They’ve read the forensic recovery reports from your Manhattan victory; they know we aren't just venture capitalists—we’re forensic clean-up artists for toxic institutional debt.”
“Good,” I said, adjusting the lapels of my tailored charcoal trench coat. “Let’s make sure they understand that our capital comes with absolute transparency, zero tolerance for corporate bloat, and a strict no-parasite policy.”
As our black cab navigated the rain-slicked streets of the financial district, I stared out at the historic stone facades of London. The city hummed with old money and aggressive ambition, but unlike my past life, I didn't feel like an outsider peering through a frosted window. I owned my seat at the head of the table.

Our new office on the top floor of a Victorian-era granite tower offered a panoramic view of the Bank of England. The interior, however, was ruthlessly modern—brushed steel, minimalist glass partitions, and a culture built entirely on merit rather than manipulation.
Within forty-eight hours of our arrival, we secured a controlling stake in Vanguard Tech Solutions, a struggling British cybersecurity firm that had been quietly bled dry by its previous male executives through fraudulent expense accounts and shadow shell corporations. It felt poetic. Every fraudulent ledger I dismantled felt like a brick being pulled from the prison wall David was currently staring at upstate.
