Chapter 4 - THE MIDNIGHT ALLIANCE

The digital clock on the bedside table read 2:14 AM. Arthur had spent the last two hours tearing the room apart, searching for a hidden panic button or an old communications line. Nothing. Victoria had meticulously sealed every exit.
Suddenly, a faint tapping came from the private balcony window connecting to the guest suite.
Arthur whipped around. Through the glass, a familiar face peered into the dim light. It was Marcus, Arthur’s fiercely loyal head of legal security—a man Victoria had supposedly fired the week prior.
Arthur rushed to the sliding door, unlocking it manually from the inside track. Marcus slipped into the room, breathing heavily, holding a heavy-duty encrypted tablet.
"Boss, thank God you're okay," Marcus whispered urgently. "I saw the security reroutes. Victoria thinks she’s won, but she made one fatal mistake."
"What mistake?" Arthur demanded, grabbing Marcus by the shoulders.
"She underestimated who built this house," Marcus said, a grim smile touching his lips. "You didn't just build a smart home, Arthur. You integrated a sovereign offline backup system into the foundation. Every single document she had you sign, every bank transfer, every conversation she’s had with her real co-conspirators... it’s all mirrored on an isolated server she doesn't even know exists."
"Can we reverse the transfer?" Arthur asked, hope flaring in his chest.

"We can," Marcus replied. "But we need her biometric authorization signature to execute the master override—or a court order backed by federal wiretap evidence. And we have to move before sunrise, because her co-conspirators are landing at Van Nuys private airport at dawn."
