Chapter 8 - THE ULTIMATE TWIST

Arthur didn't negotiate. Instead, he didn't look at Victoria—he looked past her, straight at the security camera mounted above the grand double doors.
"Marcus. Execute Protocol Zero," Arthur commanded loudly.
Victoria frowned, her thumb pressing down halfway on the detonator. "What are you—?"
Click.
The entire mansion went pitch black for one agonizing second. Then, emergency red backup lights flickered on. But the detonator in Victoria’s hand didn't spark. The red light on the remote blinked erratically, then faded completely into dead grey plastic.
Victoria stared at it in sheer disbelief. "No... no! I jammed the local signals!"
"You jammed the Wi-Fi, Victoria," Marcus said, stepping out from the shadows with a smug grin, holding a master frequency jammer of his own. "But you forgot that Arthur’s entire estate runs on a quantum-encrypted satellite relay network that operates outside public cellular bands."
Before Victoria could react, the federal agents surged forward, tackling her to the marble floor in a swift, professional maneuver. The chrome remote clattered harmlessly across the stone.
Arthur didn't look back at her as she was cuffed and led away screaming. He rushed up the stairs, sweeping little Lily into his arms and burying his face in her hair, tears of relief spilling over his cheeks.
"You're safe, baby," Arthur whispered fiercely, holding her tight against his chest. "Daddy’s got you. Everything is going to be okay."

Later that afternoon, as the police cruisers wound their way down the Hollywood Hills road, Arthur stood at the edge of the infinity pool once more. The city below stretched out in the bright afternoon sun, shimmering with endless promise.
The corporate empire was secured. The shadow of the past was finally laid to rest. And as Lily’s joyful laughter echoed from the living room behind him, Arthur smiled, knowing the light in his world would never go out again.
