CHAPTER 5 â âThe Riot Was Never the Plan⊠It Was the Signalâ

The chant echoed through every corridor.
âBLACKWELL! BLACKWELL! BLACKWELL!â
The Wardenâs smile disappeared.
He slammed his fist onto the balcony railing.
âShoot anyone who refuses to kneel!â
Guards raised their rifles.
Prisoners froze.
Then...
Bang!
A warning shot exploded into the ceiling.
Concrete dust rained over the arena.
Panic erupted.
Hundreds of inmates rushed in every direction while alarms screamed throughout the prison.
But in the middle of the chaos...
The Kid stood perfectly still.
Titan stared at him in disbelief.
âYou planned this?â
The Kid nodded.
âNo.â
âI predicted it.â
Before Titan could answer, the Kid pulled a tiny metal object from inside his torn boot.
It wasn't a weapon.
It was an old prison badge.
Titan's eyes widened.
âThat badge belongs to...â
âMy father.â
The Kid's voice became cold.
âHe wasn't a criminal.â
âHe was the prison's lead investigator.â
âHe came here to expose Blackwell's trafficking operation.â
Titan felt his legs weaken.
âHe never disappeared...â
âHe was murdered.â
The words hit Titan like another punch.
âI tried to stop them,â Titan whispered.
âThey threatened my wife... my son...â
The Kid looked at him for several silent seconds.
Then he asked the one question Titan feared most.
âAre they still alive?â
Titan lowered his head.
âNo.â
For years, Titan believed he had survived by obeying Blackwell.
Now he realized...
He had lost everything anyway.
Slowly...
The giant stood beside the Kid.
May you like
Not as an enemy.
But as an ally.
