CHAPTER 4 — “The Woman Beneath the Floor”

The first shot rang out.

Ethan dropped low, dragging Brutus’s unconscious body behind a concrete pillar.

Bullets tore through the cage.

Prisoners screamed and scattered.

For the first time, the criminals who once loved violence were begging for mercy.

Ethan didn’t run toward the exit.

He ran toward the underground medical wing.

Every step took him deeper into the prison’s darkest secret.

Behind a locked steel door, he found rows of files.

Names.

Photos.

Missing people.

And then he saw her.

His mother, weak but alive, lifted her head.

“Ethan…”

He froze.

But before he could reach her, she whispered something that shattered him.

“I’m not your mother.”

Ethan’s blood turned cold.

She pointed to a file on the table.

Inside was a baby photo.

His real name.

And the signature of the man who sold him as a child.

The warden.

Ethan turned slowly as footsteps approached behind him.

The warden stood in the doorway, smiling with tears in his eyes.

“Hello, son.”
