CHAPTER 1: "DON'T SIGN IT."

The conference room on the thirty-sixth floor overlooked the entire city.

Floor-to-ceiling windows reflected the afternoon sun, while a dozen executives sat silently around a polished walnut table.

Everyone knew this meeting would decide the company's future.

If today's contract was signed, Harrison Global Technologies would secure an investment worth more than three hundred million dollars.

If it failed...

Thousands of employees could lose their jobs.

CEO Daniel Harrison had spent nearly two years negotiating with one of the wealthiest investment groups from the Middle East.

Today was supposed to be the celebration.

Across from him sat four elegantly dressed Arab businessmen.

Their leader, Sheikh Omar Al-Rashid, smiled calmly while his legal team organized the final contracts.

Beside them stood the company's interpreter.

His name was Victor Klein, one of the most respected Arabic translators in international business.

He had worked with governments, billionaires, and multinational corporations.

Nobody questioned his translations.

Nobody...

Except one person.

Outside the conference room...

A young cleaner pushed a gray cleaning cart through the hallway.

Her name tag simply read:

LENA.

No last name.

No title.

No one in the building knew much about her.

She had worked there only three months.

She always kept her head down.

Always smiled politely.

Always disappeared before anyone noticed her.

To everyone...

She was invisible.

Inside the conference room...

The negotiations entered their final stage.

Daniel leaned back.

"So... we have an agreement?"

Victor translated into Arabic.

The investors exchanged several sentences.

Everyone smiled.

Victor turned back.

"They're honored to become your partners."

Daniel nodded happily.

"Excellent."

Lawyers immediately placed dozens of pages across the table.

Every signature represented millions of dollars.

The atmosphere relaxed.

People began congratulating each other before the deal was even signed.

One executive whispered,

"This is the biggest contract in company history."

Another laughed.

"We'll all be getting bonuses."

Then...

CRASH!

One of the investors accidentally knocked over a crystal glass.

Water splashed across the contracts.

Several expensive documents became soaked.

"Oh no..."

The secretary rushed forward.

"I'll call housekeeping."

Less than two minutes later...

The conference room door quietly opened.

Lena entered carrying a mop and bucket.

She lowered her head respectfully.

"Good afternoon."

No one answered.

Daniel didn't even look at her.

The lawyers continued discussing legal clauses.

Victor kept translating.

The investors casually chatted among themselves in Arabic while waiting for fresh copies of the documents.

Lena silently knelt beside the table.

She carefully wiped the water from the marble floor.

Nobody paid attention.

But while cleaning...

She listened.

Every single Arabic word.

Every sentence.

Every whisper.

Her hands suddenly froze.

Her eyes widened almost imperceptibly.

One investor quietly laughed.

Another answered in Arabic.

Victor deliberately translated something completely different.

Lena slowly looked toward him.

Her breathing became heavier.

No...

That wasn't what they had said.

Not even close.

Victor had changed entire paragraphs.

At first she wondered if she had misunderstood.

So she kept listening.

Again...

Another investor spoke.

Again...

Victor lied.

This time...

Lena felt her stomach tighten.

The investors believed Daniel had accepted conditions he had never even heard.

Meanwhile...

Daniel confidently reviewed the final documents.

He trusted Victor completely.

Why wouldn't he?

Victor had interpreted every meeting for almost a year.

Finally...

Fresh contracts arrived.

The lawyers arranged them neatly.

Daniel uncapped an expensive silver fountain pen.

"This is it."

Everyone smiled.

Camera phones were prepared.

Champagne waited outside.

Victor nodded confidently.

"Please sign here."

Daniel lowered the pen.

Just before the tip touched the paper...

A quiet female voice echoed through the silent room.

"Don't sign."

The pen stopped.

Everyone looked up.

Lena stood beside the table.

Still holding her mop.

Water slowly dripped onto the carpet.

Daniel blinked.

"...Excuse me?"

She repeated calmly.

"Don't sign those documents."

The room froze.

One lawyer frowned.

"What is the meaning of this?"

Victor laughed awkwardly.

"Ignore her."

But Lena didn't move.

She looked directly into Daniel's eyes.

"They're lying to you."

Daniel's face darkened.

"Young lady..."

"You are a cleaner."

"You have absolutely no idea what is happening here."

Several executives nodded.

One even smirked.

"This is ridiculous."

Victor crossed his arms.

"I think security should escort her out."

Daniel pointed toward the door.

"Please return to your work."

"You are interrupting negotiations worth hundreds of millions."

Lena remained perfectly still.

Then...

She slowly turned toward the Arab investors.

And for the first time...

She spoke.

Fluent.

Elegant.

Perfect classical Arabic.

One sentence.

The smiles instantly disappeared from every investor's face.

Even Sheikh Omar nearly stood from his chair.

Victor's face turned completely white.

And Daniel realized...

May you like

The cleaner wasn't a cleaner at all.
