🔥 CHAPTER 7: "THE ABANDONED FORTRESS"

Daniel barely had time to process Sofia's words before she was already issuing orders.
"Inspector Collins, have your forensic team analyze the tire tracks."
"Trace every traffic camera within a twenty-mile radius."
"And don't tell the media about Emily's kidnapping."
The inspector nodded immediately.
"You think they're watching the news?"
Sofia replied without hesitation.
"They're watching us."
Within minutes, the mansion became the center of a massive covert operation.
The silver charm Emily had left behind wasn't random.
Daniel recognized it instantly.
It had belonged to his late wife.
Emily never took it off.
Sofia turned the tiny charm over in her hand and smiled.
"Emily is smarter than they expected."
Daniel looked confused.
"What do you mean?"
"She dropped it on purpose."
"She wants us to follow."
The forensic team soon returned with new information.
The mud on the kidnappers' tires contained a rare mixture of limestone dust, rust particles, and black industrial ash.
One investigator frowned.
"Only one abandoned industrial district matches this combination."
Sofia immediately knew the place.
"The old Raven Steel Factory."
It had been abandoned for more than fifteen years after a massive fire destroyed most of the buildings.
Since then, it had become a forgotten maze of broken warehouses, underground tunnels, and collapsed production halls.
A perfect place to hide.
By midnight, dozens of police officers surrounded the massive complex.
Helicopters circled overhead with infrared cameras.
Snipers took positions on nearby rooftops.
Daniel insisted on joining the operation despite repeated objections.
"I won't leave my daughter."
Sofia looked him in the eyes.
"If you lose control in there..."
"...everyone dies."
Daniel nodded silently.
The tactical team moved in.
Every step echoed through the empty factory.
Rusted machines stood like giant skeletons beneath the moonlight.
Broken windows whistled as cold wind swept through the building.
Then...
A little girl's voice echoed somewhere in the darkness.
"Dad..."
Daniel's heart nearly stopped.
"Emily!"
He rushed forward.
Sofia grabbed his arm.
"Wait."
He struggled.
"That's my daughter!"
"No."
She listened carefully.
"That's a recording."
Before anyone could react—
CLICK!
Floodlights exploded to life.
The entire factory became bright as daylight.
Dozens of armed men appeared on the surrounding catwalks.
Laser sights covered every officer below.
Anthony Harrison slowly stepped out onto an elevated platform, clapping his hands.
"Impressive."
"You found me much faster than I expected."
Daniel looked up.
"You've lost your mind."
Anthony smiled.
"No."
"I finally stopped living in your shadow."
He gestured toward the center of the warehouse.
Emily sat tied to a chair.
She appeared frightened...
But unharmed.
Anthony laughed.
"Here's the deal."
"You hand me every file Sofia recovered."
"I let Emily walk away."
Daniel took one step forward.
Anthony raised a remote control.
"Another step..."
"...and this entire building explodes."
Everyone froze.
Around the warehouse...
Rows of explosive charges were attached to the steel support columns.
The bomb squad officer whispered,
"My God..."
"There are dozens of them."
Anthony smiled confidently.
"This factory becomes your daughter's tomb..."
"...unless you choose wisely."
Daniel felt completely trapped.
But while everyone focused on Anthony...
Sofia quietly noticed something else.
Emily wasn't crying.
She wasn't panicking.
Instead...
The teenager was subtly moving the fingers of one hand.
Tap...
Tap...
Pause...
Tap... Tap...
Sofia's eyes widened.
It wasn't random.
It was Morse code.
Emily was sending a message.
Three words.
"Bombs are fake."
Without changing her expression, Sofia slowly nodded to Emily.
The girl blinked once.
Anthony never noticed.
He was too busy enjoying what he believed was his victory.
May you like
Sofia smiled ever so slightly.
The game had just changed.
