Chapter 17 - A New Chapter BeginsThree months later, the grand estate felt entirely transformed.

The heavy, suffocating silence that had haunted the hallways since Emily’s death was completely gone. In its place was the sound of pattering footsteps, soft laughter, and the bright, chiming voice of a five-year-old boy who never stopped talking anymore.
Today was a special day.
The newly established Emily & Clara Foundation center was holding its official grand opening ceremony in the nearby city. Flashbulbs popped, local families gathered, and children ran across green lawns playing games and painting murals.
Standing on the outdoor stage, Thomas adjusted the microphone. He looked out over the cheerful crowd, but his eyes zeroed in on the front row.
Clara sat on a folding chair, holding Lucas on her lap. Lucas was proudly wearing a miniature paper crown, waving a small handheld flag, while Clara beamed up at Thomas with unadorned, radiant pride.
"For a long time, I believed that true power was measured by wealth, isolation, and control," Thomas spoke into the microphone, his voice echoing clearly across the park, steady and filled with conviction. "I learned the hard way that a palace of gold means nothing if the people inside it are suffering in silence."
He paused, looking directly down at Clara and Lucas in the front row.
"True wealth isn't what you accumulate. It's what you give. It's the courage to listen, to heal, and to love fearlessly. And today, I want to thank the two people who taught me what life is truly about."
