Chapter 8 - The Wolf in the StudyArthur Sterling looked immaculate in a bespoke charcoal suit, his silver hair neatly combed, a cold, predatory smile plastered across his aging face. Behind him stood Victoria, smirking triumphantly.

"Well, well, well," Arthur drawled, stepping into the study with a slow, deliberate stride. His cold blue eyes swept over Thomas, the open safe, and finally landed on Clara. "It seems family reunions are getting a bit crowded in here."
Thomas instinctively stepped in front of Clara, his protective instincts flaring to life. "Arthur. How did you get in here?"
"Your security system is impressive, Thomas, but wealth has its keys," Arthur chuckled smoothly, waving a hand dismissively. He glanced at the open safe and the notebook on the desk. "Ah. I see the little rat found the cheese. Did she tell you her sob story? Did she explain how she’s just a poor, innocent victim?"
"She told me everything," Thomas said, his voice dropping into a deadly growl. "Including how you murdered my wife."
Arthur’s smile didn't waver, but his eyes hardened into glacial chips of ice. "Careful, Thomas. Defamation is an expensive hobby. Emily was unstable. Her death was a tragic accident—everyone knows that. Just ask the police."
"The police reports were bought and paid for," Clara stepped out from behind Thomas, her voice ringing clear and fearless across the room. She looked directly into her father's eyes. "I have the digital backups, Arthur. Every ledger, every offshore transfer, every bribe you paid to cover up your embezzlement of the foundation funds. It's already uploaded to a secure cloud server programmed to release to the FBI and the national press if anything happens to me or Thomas."
Arthur’s face twisted into an ugly snarl, the mask of the benevolent billionaire shattering instantly. "You ungrateful little bitch. I should have dealt with you the same day I dealt with your mother."
Victoria gasped, covering her mouth in feigned shock, though her eyes gleamed with malicious excitement. "Grandpa, she's lying! She's trying to frame you!"
"Shut up, Victoria," Arthur snapped, turning his attention back to Thomas. "Thomas, be reasonable. You're a smart man. You want to keep your empire, your estates, your lifestyle? Hand over the documents, let this girl disappear quietly, and we can sweep this under the rug. We can merge our assets. You and Victoria can finally—"
"I would rather burn my entire empire to the ground than spend another second breathing the same air as you," Thomas interrupted, his voice echoing with absolute finality.

Arthur’s eyes narrowed into slits. He raised his hand slowly and snapped his fingers.
The two heavy security guards behind him instantly stepped forward, pulling out heavy zip-ties. "Take the girl," Arthur ordered coldly. "And make sure Mr. Caldwell is too... occupied... to notice."
