Chapter 11 - The Phantom PackageThe morning sun over Central Park was crisp, painting the glass of the Marrow penthouse in shades of amber and gold. For nearly a year, life had settled into an impossible, beautiful rhythm—one that Tobias Marrow once would have deemed entirely illogical.

There were no emergency board meetings at midnight, no hostile takeovers, and no frantic security alerts. There was only the sound of little footsteps thundering down the hallway, the smell of pancakes burning slightly on the stove, and Elena laughing as she chased Julian around the kitchen island.
Tobias stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, a cup of black coffee in hand, watching his sons argue passionately over a blue plastic dinosaur. At forty, the hard lines around his eyes had softened, replaced by a quiet, fierce contentment.
The intercom buzzer chimed softly.
"Package delivery for Mr. Marrow," the doorman’s voice crackled through the speaker. "Left at the private elevator foyer, signed by a courier service."
Tobias frowned slightly. His private shipments were strictly filtered through three layers of corporate security. A direct drop without clearance was unusual.
"Stay here," Tobias muttered to Elena, who gave him a quizzical look as she wiped flour from her hands.
Stepping out into the private foyer, Tobias found a sleek, matte-black box resting on the marble table. There was no sender address, only a single wax seal bearing a crest he hadn't seen in over a year: the entwined serpents of the Vance family estate.
His pulse spiked. He lifted the lid with absolute, practiced caution.
Inside sat an old, encrypted flash drive, a pristine legal document with a single highlighted paragraph, and a handwritten note scrawled in ink that looked decades old.

Tobias picked up the note. His eyes scanned the lines, and the air abruptly vanished from his lungs.
“You thought the snake was dead, Tobias. But empires don't die—they hibernate. Your boys carry your blood, but the trust owns their future. Look at the drive before midnight, or watch your towers burn from the inside.”
