Chapter 16 - THE ARCHITECT OF BETRAYALThe subterranean room was vast, illuminated by banks of flickering computer monitors displaying live feeds of the Moretti estate, the shipping docks, and—most chillingly—the interior of the master study upstairs.

At the center of the room sat a massive steel desk covered in ledgers, schematics, and family photographs with red X’s slashed across the faces of Aleandro’s closest allies.

Sitting in a high-backed leather chair, spinning a silver pocket watch identical to the one Emma owned, was a man with iron-grey hair and cold, familiar blue eyes. He turned slowly to face the intruders.

Aleandro stopped dead in his tracks. The breath caught in his throat.

"Hello, little brother," Victor Moretti said smoothly, a dark, sardonic smile spreading across his weathered face. "Did you really think a few sticks of C4 and a dead clock could erase the man who taught you everything you know?"
