Chapter 18 - THE TICKING CLOCK OF VENGEANCEThe digital countdown reflected coldly in the dark lenses of Aleandro’s eyes.

Victor leaned against the edge of the steel desk, crossing his arms with an air of absolute superiority. "You see, Aleandro? You thought Marcus was the mastermind. You thought Isabella was the core of the rot. They were just pawns playing on a board I carved twenty years ago. I engineered the bug in your father's clock. I funneled the encryption codes to the Sokolovs. I wanted to see if the great Don Moretti could survive a knife twisted by his own beloved bride."
"You tortured her," Aleandro whispered, his jaw clenching so hard a muscle twitched in his cheek. "Isabella didn't just hate me—she was terrified of you."
"She chose the wrong side," Victor shrugged dismissively. "Just like you are about to."
The timer on the screen ticked down: 04:15... 04:14...
"Mateo," Aleandro muttered without turning his head.
"Boss?"
"Take the maintenance corridor behind the server racks. Look for the physical fiber-optic tap running into the ceiling junction."
Victor’s smirk faltered for a fraction of a second. His eyes darted toward the eastern wall.
"Don't bother," Victor snapped, pushing off the desk. "The kill-switch is hardwired—"
BANG.
Mateo didn't wait for a second order. He didn't shoot Victor; instead, he swung the heavy stock of his shotgun upward, smashing it directly into the primary junction box on the wall. A shower of blinding white sparks erupted, followed by a thick puff of acrid black smoke as the main server bank died with a dying electronic groan.
The red countdown timer froze, flickered twice, and went completely dark.
Victor’s face drained of color. The arrogance vanished, replaced instantly by wild, animal panic. He lunged for a heavy Colt revolver resting on the steel desk, his fingers clawing for the grip.

Aleandro was faster.
With a single, explosive stride, he crossed the room, grabbed Victor by the collar of his turtleneck, and slammed him down hard against the steel desktop, pressing the barrel of his Sig Sauer right underneath his brother’s chin.
