Chapter 9 - The Final Reckoning

It took less than forty-eight hours for Tyler Brooks’s carefully constructed world to completely disintegrate.

Without Fierro-backed capital, his commercial real estate development collapsed like a house of cards. Creditors swarmed his office, banks froze his personal accounts, and by Monday evening, Tyler found himself standing in the lobby of the North Avenue estate—not as an arrogant guest mocking my department-store dress, but as a desperate, ruined man begging for an audience.

Giovanni didn't invite him into the grand study. He met him in the stark, concrete underground garage, standing beside a black SUV with Marko standing guard a few paces away.

I watched from the second-story security monitor in the master suite, wrapped in a cashmere robe, sipping hot tea while watching the drama unfold in high-definition color.

Tyler looked disheveled, his expensive suit wrinkled, his hair messy as he gestured wildly toward Giovanni.

“You can’t do this!” Tyler shouted, his voice echoing off the concrete walls. “You’re destroying my life! It was just business! Aunt Elena said—!”

“Aunt Elena doesn't run this company anymore,” Giovanni interrupted, his voice cutting through Tyler’s panic like a razor blade. He stepped closer to Tyler, towering over him by half a head. “You thought you could use my wife as a pawn in your pathetic little game of corporate vengeance. You thought you could break her spirit and walk away unscathed.”

“She was nothing!” Tyler screamed, losing his composure completely. “She was a broke, single mother working in a clinic! I gave her up because she was holding me back!”

In a flash of movement so fast the security camera barely captured it, Giovanni grabbed Tyler by the lapels of his suit and slammed him hard against the side of the concrete pillar.

Tyler let out a choked gasp, his feet dangling slightly off the ground as Giovanni’s face came inches from his.

“She is a pediatric nurse who saves children’s lives,” Giovanni whispered, his voice shaking with suppressed fury. “And she is my wife. If you ever speak her name again—if you ever come within a mile of her or her daughter—I won't just take your business. I’ll make sure you never walk out of this city upright again.”

He shoved Tyler hard, sending him sprawling backward into a heap of oily concrete dust.

Tyler scrambled to his feet, panting like a trapped animal, casting one terrified look at Marko before turning and running blindly toward the exit gates.
