Chapter 7 - The Interrogation Room

Deep within the high-security subterranean holding facility beneath federal headquarters, the concrete interrogation room smelled of stale coffee, disinfectant, and overwhelming despair.

Juliette sat handcuffed to a bolted metal table, her designer clothes replaced by an unflattering orange jumpsuit. Her hair hung in greasy strands around her face, and her makeup was completely washed away, revealing the pale, stressed skin underneath. The untouchable socialite was entirely gone.

The heavy steel door swung open with a loud metallic clank. Christopher stepped into the room, wearing his signature charcoal suit, his expression completely impassoned. He pulled out the metal chair opposite her, sat down slowly, and rested his forearms on the table.

Juliette jerked her head up, her eyes bloodshot and blazing with venomous fury. "You!" she hissed, spitting the word out like poison. "You orchestrated all of this! You lured me in! You let me think I was winning!"

"You were never winning, Juliette," Christopher replied smoothly, his voice terrifyingly calm. "You were simply playing a game where the rules were written before you even sat down at the table."

"You monster!" Juliette shrieked, slamming her cuffed hands against the metal table, rattling the hardware. "I gave you three years of my life! I played the devoted wife! I tried to build an empire with you!"

"You tried to murder my six-year-old daughter for a bank account," Christopher corrected sharply, his eyes suddenly flashing with a lethal, terrifying intensity that made Juliette instinctively shrink back in her chair. "You poisoned her food with slow-acting allergens to make her look frail. You manipulated her medical records. And finally, you tried to drown her in our own backyard while smiling in my face."

Juliette’s chest heaved rapidly, panic clawing at her throat. "The lawyers... my international contacts... they’ll find a loophole! They always do!"

Christopher let out a low, cold chuckle. He reached into his jacket pocket, pulled out a thick manila folder, and slid it slowly across the steel table.

"There are no loopholes left, Juliette," Christopher said softly. "Interpol agents are currently dismantling your entire network across three continents. Your Swiss accounts have been frozen under anti-terrorism and financial fraud statutes. Your real name—Elena Rostova—is now flagged in forty-two countries. You aren't going to a country club prison. You are heading to a maximum-security federal penitentiary in Siberia, courtesy of an extradition treaty I personally funded."

Juliette stared at the folder in absolute horror. The color drained completely from her face, and her hands began to shake uncontrollably. "No... no, you can't do this... I have rights—"

"Your rights ended the moment you touched my daughter," Christopher interrupted, standing up slowly from his chair and adjusting his suit jacket. He leaned down, bringing his face inches from hers, whispering with a dead, icy certainty: "Enjoy the dark, Juliette. You built your own grave. Now you get to lie in it."
