Chapter 18 - Shadows of the Past Faded

A year to the day since the terrifying morning in the hospital room, I woke up without an ounce of dread in my chest. The calendar on my phone displayed the date, but the numeric digits no longer carried the weight of trauma; they simply marked the anniversary of the day I became truly unstoppable. I walked out onto the wooden porch with my morning coffee, watching the golden sunlight break across the crashing waves of the Pacific. The wind was cool and steady, sweeping away any lingering traces of the past. I realized then that the nightmares had completely stopped. The fear had permanently surrendered to peace.
