CHAPTER 7 – The Secret Vault Beneath Harper Manor

Daniel tightened his grip around Richard Harper's pocket watch.
The note echoed in his mind.
"Trust no one... not even the man who calls himself your father."
The warehouse was in ruins.
Marcus...
Victoria...
And Michael Carter had vanished without leaving a trace.
Only one clue remained.
Hidden inside the watch was a tiny brass key engraved with a single letter:
H.
Back at Harper Manor, Daniel searched through Richard Harper's old journals until sunrise.
Most of the pages were ordinary business notes.
But one page had been torn almost completely out.
Only a single sentence remained.
"The truth sleeps beneath the house."
Daniel immediately ordered the mansion sealed.
Within hours, engineers scanned the foundation.
Nothing.
Then Ethan noticed something strange.
The marble fireplace in Richard's private library had no chimney.
"It was never built to burn wood," Ethan whispered.
Daniel pressed one of the carved lions decorating the fireplace.
A loud rumble shook the room.
The fireplace slowly slid sideways.
Behind it...
A narrow staircase disappeared into darkness.
No one had entered the hidden tunnel in decades.
Dust covered every step.
At the end of the passage stood a massive steel vault.
The brass key fit perfectly.
The door slowly opened.
Inside were shelves lined with sealed files, hard drives, gold bars...
...and dozens of framed photographs.
Daniel froze.
Every picture showed him.
His first birthday.
His first day of school.
His high school graduation.
Even private family vacations.
Someone had secretly watched over him his entire life.
Then Ethan pointed toward an old television sitting in the corner.
A red light suddenly blinked.
The screen came to life by itself.
Richard Harper appeared on the screen.
Older.
Thinner.
But unmistakably alive.
"If you're watching this, Daniel..."
"...then my enemies have finally made their move."
Daniel could barely breathe.
"You... you're alive..."
The recording continued.
"I had to disappear."
"The people hunting you own judges, senators, police chiefs... and even members of my own board."
Richard leaned closer to the camera.
"The corruption network has only one leader."
Daniel waited for the name.
Instead...
Richard slowly held up an old family photograph.
He pointed to a smiling little girl standing beside him.
Daniel frowned.
He had never seen her before.
Richard spoke quietly.
"Everything began with her."
"Find Emily."
"She is the only person who knows the final truth."
Suddenly...
A deafening alarm echoed through the vault.
One of Daniel's security guards shouted from upstairs.
"Sir!"
"The mansion is surrounded!"
More than thirty black SUVs blocked every exit.
Armed men poured onto the estate.
At their front stood Marcus.
Beside him...
Victoria.
And between them...
A young woman in her twenties.
She smiled as she looked directly into the security camera.
Then she spoke one sentence that made Daniel's blood run cold.
May you like
"Hello, Daniel..."
"...I've been waiting my entire life to meet my brother."
