CHAPTER 8 – My Sister Was Never the Enemy

The gates of Harper Manor exploded inward.

Armed guards rushed into position.

Red and blue emergency lights painted the mansion walls.

Daniel stood in the hidden vault, staring at the security monitor.

The young woman outside looked almost exactly like him.

The same dark eyes.

The same determined expression.

She smiled sadly.

"I'm Emily."

"...your sister."

Marcus laughed behind her.

"Touching, isn't it?"

"But family reunions never last long."

Daniel refused to leave the vault.

He knew Richard Harper had hidden it for a reason.

Then Emily raised both hands.

"I'm unarmed."

"I came to save you."

Nobody moved.

Daniel slowly walked upstairs.

The heavy front doors opened.

For the first time in his life...

He stood face to face with the girl from Richard Harper's video.

Emily reached into her coat.

Every guard pointed their weapons.

Instead of a gun...

She removed an old silver locket.

Inside was a faded photograph.

A young couple holding two newborn babies.

One baby wore a bracelet marked Daniel.

The other wore Emily.

Daniel's hands trembled.

"Our parents," Emily whispered.

"They died believing we'd survive."

Before Daniel could answer—

Marcus suddenly grabbed Emily by the arm and pressed a pistol against her head.

"Enough."

His smile disappeared.

"You've ruined twenty-eight years of planning."

Daniel took one step forward.

"Let her go."

Marcus laughed.

"You still don't understand."

"I was never the mastermind."

Victoria slowly stepped aside.

A black limousine rolled through the shattered gates.

Every armed man immediately lowered his weapon.

Even Victoria bowed her head.

The rear door opened.

An elegant elderly woman stepped out wearing a white suit and carrying a polished cane.

Daniel froze.

Her portrait had hung above the fireplace in Harper Manor his entire childhood.

Eleanor Harper.

The beloved family matriarch.

The woman everyone believed had died ten years earlier.

She smiled gently.

"My dear grandson..."

"You've grown into exactly the man Richard hoped you would become."

Daniel's voice cracked.

"Grandmother...?"

She shook her head.

"No."

"I'm not your grandmother."

"I'm the woman who built this empire."

"And the woman who destroyed your family."

The world seemed to stop.

Emily gasped.

Marcus lowered his head in fear.

Even Victoria looked terrified.

Eleanor calmly tapped her cane against the marble floor.

"For thirty years, I controlled governments..."

"Bought judges..."

"Started wars between corporations..."

"And erased anyone who threatened my fortune."

She looked directly into Daniel's eyes.

"Your parents found proof."

"So I ordered their execution."

Daniel felt every ounce of rage burning inside him.

"You murdered them..."

Eleanor nodded without a trace of regret.

"Yes."

"And Richard betrayed me by saving you."

She smiled again.

"But today..."

"I finish what I started."

At that exact moment—

A familiar voice echoed across the estate.

"Not this time."

Everyone turned.

A helicopter descended over Harper Manor.

As it landed, a tall man stepped out.

Gray-haired.

Scarred.

Alive.

Richard Harper.

He walked straight toward Daniel.

Without saying a word...

He embraced him like the son he had protected for nearly three decades.

Then Richard looked Eleanor in the eyes.

"The evidence has already been sent to every international news agency."

"And every member of your organization has been identified."

Police sirens erupted from every direction.

Hundreds of officers surrounded the estate.

Marcus dropped his weapon.

Victoria collapsed to her knees.

Eleanor smiled one final time.

"You think this is over?"

She pressed a hidden button inside her cane.

A small screen lit up.

TRANSFER COMPLETE.

Richard's face turned pale.

"No..."

Eleanor laughed.

"You may have destroyed my empire..."

"But twenty billion dollars..."

"...and every secret I ever owned..."

"...have just been transferred to someone you'll never find."

She closed her eyes as officers placed her in handcuffs.

Then she whispered one final sentence to Daniel.

"The real game... begins now."

As the sun rose over Harper Manor, Daniel stood beside Richard, Emily, Ethan, and little Lily.

The nightmare was finally over.

Or so they believed.

Because thousands of miles away...

A phone vibrated inside a luxury penthouse.

A mysterious figure looked at the notification.

TRANSFER RECEIVED: $20,000,000,000.

The stranger smiled.

Then whispered:

"Thank you, Eleanor..."
