Chapter 1 - THE TRAP IN THE LOBBY

🚨 HE TRIED TO ERASE ME—BUT THE SYSTEMS NEVER LIE! 🚨The silence in the marble lobby was suffocating. Vanessa’s words—“You told me she was dead!”—hung in the air like a death sentence. Every guard, receptionist, and high-profile guest stood frozen as the security screens flickered, broadcasting the undeniable evidence of my cousin Daniel’s betrayal.

Daniel’s face drained of all color. The arrogant, calculating cousin who had spent years operating in my shadow was suddenly cornered. He glanced at the corporate security team he had brought down with him, but they weren't looking at him anymore. Their eyes were locked on the glowing gold letters flashing across the main display: FOUNDER AUTHORITY VERIFIED.

"Elena," Daniel stammered, his voice losing its usual smooth, corporate edge. He took a step forward, raising his hands in a defensive gesture. "This... this is a massive misunderstanding. You're hallucinating from the crash. That video is a deepfake. Someone is trying to frame me to divide the family."

"A deepfake?" I hissed, ignoring the agonizing pain in my ribs as I stood completely upright. I pointed a bloody finger toward the screen, where the video continued to loop—showing the driver tossing my mother’s silver bracelet onto the table. "Did they deepfake my mother’s bracelet, Daniel? The bracelet she was wearing the night you told the world she drowned?"

Vanessa, realizing she had been used as a pawn in a attempted murder plot, grabbed Daniel’s tailored suit jacket. "You said she was history, Daniel! You said if I cleaned up the Somor Resort Group's offshore accounts, I’d be named CEO! You didn't say anything about running her off a cliff!"

"Shut up, Vanessa!" Daniel snarled, violently shoving her away.

He looked around the lobby, realizing the walls were closing in. The head of resort security, a towering man named Marcus who had served my grandfather for two decades, stepped between me and Daniel.

"Mr. Somor," Marcus said, his voice dropping to a low rumble. "Under protocol Alpha-1 of the Somor Trust, the majority owner has ordered a total facility lockdown. You will hand over your master keycard and accompany us to the holding area until the authorities arrive."

Daniel chuckled, a sound that quickly devolved into a manic laugh. "Authorities? Marcus, look at the board of directors. Look at who signs your paychecks. Elena has been missing from operations for three years. The trust belongs to the active board!"

"The trust belongs to the bloodline," I countered, my voice echoing off the high ceilings. "And the bloodline just locked you out."

Daniel’s eyes darted toward the grand glass entrance. Outside, the rain was pouring, washing over the very roads where his assassins had tried to end my life. He reached slowly into his pocket, pretending to reach for his keycard.

Instead, he pulled out a small, black remote detonator.

"If I'm going down, Elena," Daniel whispered, his eyes wild, "I'm burning the Somor empire to the ground with me."

Before Marcus could tackle him, Daniel pressed the button. A deafening explosion rocked the lower levels of the resort, throwing everyone to the floor as the lights plunged into total darkness.
