Chapter 14 - High Seas Hostage – Blood on the Mediterranean

The night sky over the Mediterranean Sea was pitch black as the Imperator, a 300-foot superyacht owned by Aegis Global, cut through the churning waves twenty miles off the coast of Monaco. Inside the soundproofed main salon, Marcus Thorne sat bound to a reinforced steel chair, flanked by six armed mercenaries wearing unmarked tactical gear.
Victoria Sterling sat opposite him, swirling a glass of vintage champagne. “It didn't have to be like this, Marcus. We could have ruled the global market together. But you chose a girl who hid behind her family's name.”
“Khloe doesn't hide behind anything,” Marcus said calmly, not a single trace of fear in his eyes. “And you made a fatal mistake bringing me out into international waters.”
Victoria laughed softly. “And why is that? The local police have no jurisdiction here. My radar is clear for thirty nautical miles.”
BOOM!
A deafening explosion rocked the stern of the vessel, sending champagne glasses crashing to the floor. Emergency red lights flooded the salon as the vessel’s engines roared and stalled.
The heavy glass ceiling of the salon shattered into ten thousand glittering shards as four stealth ropes descended through the sky. Dropping through the darkness with lethal precision came Khloe Vance Thorne, clad in black combat leather, holding a tactical sidearm. Behind her were four elite Vance commandos.
Before the syndicate mercenaries could raise their rifles, suppressed gunshots echoed in rapid succession. The guards collapsed to the floor instantly.
Khloe unholstered a combat blade, slicing through Marcus’s restraints in one swift motion.

Victoria scrambled backward toward the emergency exit, her face pale with terror. “You… how did you bypass the perimeter radar?!”
Khloe walked slowly toward Victoria, the silver blade gleaming beneath the red emergency lights. “Your radar looks for metal, Victoria. Vance defense technology uses radar-absorbing carbon hulls. You brought my husband to international waters thinking you were safe from the law… but out here, there are no laws to protect you from me.”
