Chapter 8 - The Judas Among Us – When the Insider Sells Her Soul
The audio played through the gala's high-definition sound system, loud and unmistakable:
“Elaine, you need to delete the backup footage from the hospital servers now!” Isabella’s panicking voice echoed across the room. “If they find out I paid you two million dollars to turn off the VIP suite motion sensors, we both go to prison for life!”
“I can’t, Isabella!” Elaine Parker’s recorded voice replied in tears. “The Vance security team locked the servers! They know everything!”
The grand ballroom exploded into gasps. Elaine Parker, who was standing near the champagne tower near the stage, turned pale as chalk and dropped her glass.
Khloe turned her head slowly toward Elaine. “Did you really think two million dollars was worth betraying me, Elaine? You organized my baby shower. You walked through my home.”
Elaine fell to her knees, sobbing hysterically. “Khloe, please! She threatened me! She said she would ruin my career if I didn't help her!”
“Your career is the least of your concerns,” Arthur Vance said coldly, nodding to the uniformed federal agents who swept into the room from every entrance. “Elaine Parker, you are under arrest for conspiracy to commit attempted murder.”
As federal agents handcuffed the weeping event coordinator, officers moved swiftly toward Isabella and Julian Rossi.
Julian screamed at his lawyers, while Isabella lost all control, lunging toward Khloe with manic fury. “You ruined my life! You took Marcus from me! You were supposed to die!”

Before she could even get close, Marcus stepped in front of Khloe, seizing Isabella’s wrist in a grip of iron, forcing her down onto her knees.
“You didn't just fail to destroy my marriage, Isabella,” Marcus whispered into her ear with terrifying calm. “You made my wife realize how powerful she truly is.”
