CHAPTER 10 — "The Daughter Who Saved the Family"

Three months later...
The investigation became the largest financial crime case in the country's history.
Edward's hidden network collapsed.
Hundreds of fraudulent companies were seized.
Millions of dollars were recovered.
Vanessa accepted a plea agreement and testified against everyone involved.
She spent the rest of her life behind bars.
But Edward...
was never found.
Some believed he had died.
Others believed he escaped overseas.
Richard no longer cared.
For the first time in years...
he was finally home.
The mansion had been completely restored.
Not as a symbol of wealth...
but as a home.
Charlotte stood in the garden where her mother had once planted white roses.
Richard walked toward her carrying a small velvet box.
"I should have given this to you years ago."
Inside...
was Emily's original wedding ring.
The same ring Vanessa had thrown onto the floor.
Richard gently placed it in Charlotte's hand.
"Your mother wanted you to have it on your eighteenth birthday."
"I'm sorry I wasn't there."
Charlotte looked at him.
For years she had dreamed of hearing those words.
She wrapped her arms around him.
"You came back."
Richard closed his eyes.
"I'll spend the rest of my life making up for the years I lost."
A week later, Kingsley Global held its annual shareholders' meeting.
Executives expected Richard to return as CEO.
Instead, he stepped onto the stage and smiled.
"I built this company."
"But someone else taught me what truly matters."
He turned toward Charlotte.
"Effective immediately..."
"I resign as Chairman."
The room erupted in shock.
Richard continued,
"The future of Kingsley Global belongs to the person who protected this family's values even after losing everything."
He handed Charlotte the official documents.
"The new Chairwoman..."
"...Charlotte Kingsley."
The audience rose to its feet.
Not because she was the founder's daughter.
Not because she was the richest woman in the room.
But because everyone now knew the truth.
She had once scrubbed these same floors as a servant...
without ever revealing who she really was.
As the applause echoed through the hall, Charlotte looked toward the front row.
An empty chair sat there.
On it rested a single white rose.
No note.
No name.
Just one folded piece of paper beneath the flower.
She opened it.
Only six words were written inside.
"This isn't over. — E."
Charlotte slowly looked out the window.
Across the street...
a black sedan pulled away into the traffic.
Some stories end with justice.
Others...
May you like
end with a promise that evil is still watching.
