Chapter 9 - THE BLACKOUT PLAYLIST

"The internet thought she was erased... until a dead account started streaming from inside the walls."The next morning, the internet exploded.
Chloe Bennett's verified Instagram and TikTok accounts—which had been completely dark, stripped of content, and assumed to be permanently banned—suddenly went live at exactly 12:00 PM EST.
Millions of users received the notification: [@Chloe_Bennett is LIVE].
The screen was pitch black. The audio was filled with heavy, echoing static, followed by the distinct sound of dripping water and distant metal doors slamming shut. It was unmistakably the ambient noise of a maximum-security prison.
Then, a voice spoke. It wasn't Chloe's.
"They tell you that justice is blind," a distorted, synthetic voice echoed through the stream. "But in New York City, justice is just an asset owned by Whitmore Global Investments. You watched a girl get ruined for a diamond necklace. Now, watch how the billionaire stole an entire city block."
Within five minutes, the livestream reached 1 million concurrent viewers. The hashtag #FreeChloe and #WhitmoreScandal began trending globally on X and Facebook.
The black screen suddenly cut to a series of leaked documents: bank wires, encrypted emails between Elena Whitmore and Monsieur Pierre, and the structural blueprints of the Whitmore Tower showing the illegally acquired zoning permits.
In her penthouse suite, Elena Whitmore stood in front of her monitors, her face turning a furious shade of crimson.
"Shut it down!" Elena screamed into her phone at her tech security team. "How is a dead account streaming? Trace the IP address immediately!"
"We can't, Mistress Whitmore!" the lead technician stammered over the line. "The stream isn't originating from a phone. It's routed through an automated decentralized server network based in Switzerland. Someone programmed this to release on a timer months ago!"
Just then, the stream cut to a live video feed. It wasn't Chloe Bennett. It was Arthur Vance, Elena’s loyal, high-priced attorney. He was sitting in a dimly lit room, looking haggard, his hands tied to a chair.
"My name is Arthur Vance," he whispered into the camera, a bruise swelling beneath his left eye. "And I am here to confess. The evidence against Chloe Bennett was a manufactured frame-up designed by Elena Whitmore to blackmail the Manhattan zoning committee."

Elena dropped her glass of scotch. It shattered against the marble floor, splashing amber liquid across her pristine rug.
She realized, with a sickening jolt in her stomach, that she was no longer the one pulling the strings. The hunter had just become the prey.
