CHAPTER 8 — The Woman Who Remembered Everything

Forensic investigators opened the silver locket.

Inside was a tiny photograph.

Three newborn babies...

Lying side by side.

Someone had tried to burn the picture years ago.

But one face remained perfectly visible.

Emily.

Sarah burst into tears.

"Who was carrying this?"

Detective Miller looked at the forensic report.

"The remains belong to a woman."

"Approximately seventy years old."

Thomas closed his eyes.

"I know who she is."

Hours later...

Police identified the victim.

Her name was Eleanor Mason.

The retired night-shift nurse who had delivered all three babies.

Official records claimed she had disappeared ten years earlier.

That was a lie.

She had been murdered.

Before her body was hidden beneath the old hospital.

As investigators searched Eleanor's abandoned apartment, they discovered one final item.

A cassette recorder.

The tape was damaged...

But one sentence survived.

A frightened woman's voice whispered:

"If you're hearing this... Emily Carter is alive. The Whitmores paid for the switch... but they never ordered the murders."

The room fell silent.

Victoria Whitmore looked up in shock.

"I never ordered anyone killed."

Everyone turned toward Dr. Howard Vance.

He began shaking uncontrollably.

"No..."

"You don't understand..."

"I wasn't the one giving the orders."

Detective Miller stepped closer.

"Then who was?"

Dr. Vance slowly raised his trembling finger...

Toward a framed photograph hanging on the hospital wall.

It showed the hospital's founder.

A smiling elderly philanthropist...

Everyone knew him as Henry Blackwood.

Officially...

Henry Blackwood had died fifteen years ago.

Dr. Vance whispered four words that froze the entire room:

"He's still alive."
