Chapter 10 - The Unbroken CircleThe morning sun cast long, golden beams across the manicured lawns of the Shaw estate, warming the crisp autumn air. The lingering shadows of the past four years had finally dissolved into the bright, unobstructed light of a new era.

Inside the grand conservatory, surrounded by towering potted palms and fragrant orchids, Mia sat at a wrought-iron table with a steaming cup of coffee. The heavy ledger of the syndicate's restructured operations lay open before her, but her attention was entirely captured by the scene unfolding on the terrace just outside the glass doors.
Aaron was kneeling on the cobblestone patio, trying to teach Penny how to tie the laces on her new red sneakers. The little girl was giggling uncontrollably, her small hands darting out to playfully swat at her father’s hair while the wooden music box rested safely on a nearby bench, its little golden ballerina spinning silently in the morning breeze.
A few paces away, leaning against a stone pillar with his arms crossed over his chest, stood Declan. He wore a simple dark sweater, the harsh, intimidating aura that had once terrified mayors, bankers, and syndicate bosses entirely replaced by the quiet, grounded presence of an uncle who had finally found his purpose.
As Penny successfully looped the shoelace into a clumsy knot, she let out a triumphant cheer, sprang to her feet, and bolted across the patio straight toward Declan.
Without a moment's hesitation, the feared mafia boss dropped down to one knee, opened his arms wide, and scooped the five-year-old girl up into the air, spinning her in a wide circle as her gleeful laughter echoed off the stone walls of the courtyard.
Mia watched them from the conservatory, a soft smile curving her lips as a warm tear slipped down her cheek. The nightmare of the dry docks, the forged betrayal, the lonely years of hiding—it was all a lifetime away now.

Aaron walked over, sliding his arm around Mia's shoulders and pulling her close against his side as they watched Declan set Penny back down on her feet. The little girl immediately grabbed both of their hands, pulling her father and her uncle toward the garden path to show them a glowing monarch butterfly resting on a rose bush.
Declan looked across the small space at his brother and Mia, his green-flecked eyes meeting theirs with a quiet, unshakeable promise. The circle was complete. The family was whole. And in a world built on shadows, they had finally reclaimed the light.
